TAIFEX News and Events 

TAIFEX reported a total trading volume of 272,681,247 contracts from January to August, with an average daily volume (ADV) of 1,704,258 contracts, making a surge of 23.31% compared to the same period in 2023. Among its core products, TAIEX Options (TXO), Mini-TAIEX Futures (MTX), and TAIEX Futures (TX) showed strong momentum, with ADV rising by 15.49%, 28.80%, and 22.56%, respectively

CME Group Reports Second-Highest Monthly ADV of 31.7 Million Contracts in August and Double-Digit Increases Across All Six Asset Classes

CME Group, the world’s leading derivatives marketplace, today reported its second-highest monthly volume ever, with average daily volume (ADV) up 31% to 31.7 million contracts in August, driven by double-digit increases across all six asset classes.


Eurex August volumes up 16% with growth in all segments

Eurex, Europe’s leading derivatives exchange, reported a 16 percent increase in total trading volume, reaching 154.6 million contracts in August, compared to 133.4 million contracts in the same month last year. Interest rate derivatives continued to show significant growth, rising by 24 percent from 54.9 million to 68.2 million contracts. Equity derivatives grew by 22 percent, totaling 20.8 million contracts, while index derivatives saw a 5 percent increase, from 61.4 to 64.6 million traded contracts.


HKEX Monthly Market Highlights

  • The average daily volume of futures and options for the first eight months of 2024 was 1,473,911 contracts, an increase of 7 per cent when compared with the 1,371,770 contracts for the same period last year.
  • The average daily volume of Stock Options for the first eight months of 2024 was 670,560 contracts, an increase of 7 per cent when compared with the 625,679 contracts for the same period last year.
  • The average daily volume of Stock Futures for the first eight months of 2024 was 7,806 contracts, an increase of 12 per cent when compared with the 6,961 contracts for the same period last year.

US crude oil climbs more than $2 on fears of Hurricane Francine

Oil prices surged on Wednesday as Hurricane Francine threatened to disrupt U.S. offshore production. Despite a modest increase in crude inventories, concerns over the storm’s impact overshadowed other market factors, driving prices higher.
